Forming Teams

Teams of 5-7 students participate in their choice of the Long-Term Problems and practice Spontaneous problems. All team members participate in the Long-Term presentation and only 5 team members may participate in Spontaneous; however, other team members may observe. A maximum of 7 "Minds" can work on the problem throughout the year.


Each membership is allowed to send one team per Long-Term Problem per Division.
K-5, 6-8,9-12 SCHOOL DISTRICT STRUCTURE
K-5 School – usually up to 5 teams + unlimited Primary Teams
6-8 School – usually up to 5 teams
9-12 Schools – usually up to 5 teams

K-6, 7-9, 10-12 SCHOOL DISTRICT STRUCTURE
K-6 School – usually up to 10 teams + unlimited Primary Teams
7-9 School – usually up to 10 teams
10-12 Schools – usually up to 5 teams

K-8, 9-12 SCHOOL DISTRICT STRUCTURE
K-8 School – usually up to 10 teams + unlimited Primary Teams
9-12 Schools – usually up to 5 teams

Non-school memberships can field one team per problem per division – up to a maximum of 15 teams
The purchase of additional (2nd or 3rd) membership allows more teams to participate in the same problem.
